It was an amazing end to 2019 and start to 2020!
We spent December in Colorado with Barry's fam and our community at Neighbourhood Friends Church. It was so good to a part of Barry's sister's wedding, and to have Christmas in Colorado. We were blessed to be with amazing people who hear from God and are so willing to help Him prepare us for the role we've taken on. Our time in Colorado was definitely one of preparation, rest and clarity for this next season.
When we arrived back in NZ on New Years day we returned to Letitia's whole family together in Christchurch for a second Christmas and Nay's 30th. After
a very short 4 days back we headed North with Glen, Jaz, Ben, Jack, and Phoebe who helped us with the shift and with settling in to our new house. They worked hard on the property and made some awesome meals for the staff team too!
Since we arrived on base it has been an incredible and challenging time taking on new responsibilities and embracing the newness of this season with respect to the old. Staff training was intensive but so good. God has shown himself incredibly for us as a team; breaking off expectations, bringing us closer together in vision and purpose, and ultimately giving us a heart for what He will do in the lives of the 25 amazing students. He has really been emphasising it's a new season at YWAM Zion, and that we are free to dream and explore new horizons. That's always nice in theory, but we wrestle at times with how different our giftings and perspectives can be in this setting. Barry with his humour, peace, and easy-going nature. Tesh with her strategizing and forward thinking. God is definitely teaching us unity in our marriage and how to champion one another ESPECIALLY when it looks so different.
We're now at the end of week three in the school, so we'll update you with the student side of things in our next post :)
THANK YOU friends and Whanau for your continual prayer and support both financially and through words of encouragement. We're currently covered for our basic living costs ($120 per week, per person) for the both of us, which is amazing! If you're interested in supporting us you can do so via our 'support' section on this site, and your money would help us toward our own personal food, fuel, and house-hold items at this point. We are yet to acquire a bed base or a couch, haha. So anything and all is super appreciated :)
Love you all!
Barry and Tesh
