Helloooo!
These past school holidays Barry and I went North to be with staff up at the YWAM base for a week.
This is the base Barry helped move up from Matamata, and we served at for a number of years until marriage. As we well know, the people make the place! So new people kinda means new place even still. the trip was largely a pastoral visit and a way for Barry and I to set our feet on the ground again. Before we got the offer to return we already knew that Northland was our spiritual tūrangawaewae. The place God had prepared for us to stand with him in the spirit.
On one morning Barry and I spent time worshipping in the lecture room and were so at peace. We sensed God showing us that the base is coming into a season of rest, gentleness, and nurture. Barry was banging away on the keys and whistling meanwhile I lay on the floor and asked God (again).. "So why us?"… to which he replied... "Because you enjoy my son". It was very simple, always is, which makes me laugh because I often over complicate things.
So while it fell short of a 'holiday' - it was still really fun. We were always up to something whether staff meetings, a gathering in Auckland at our ywam mentors house, helping with base preparations, or hanging out with the staff just as normal human beings :)
We also had dinner with a few local families and caught up with friends in Auckland who not only picked us up from the airport, but loaned us their car and did our airport drop-off too. We've come away feeling extremely grateful for all the support we are already receiving from friends and our church family through finances, prayer and other practical measures which all require degrees of sacrifice from those that give. This is humbling work, and we feel so indebted to each of you.
Thank you for believing either in us or in what we sense God is doing here.
